Carrigoran House is set in a magnificent sylvan setting overlooking the river Shannon, close to the village of Newmarket on Fergus, in Co. Clare. The ancient trees shelter the many pathways that meander around the beautiful mature gardens. The Health & Wellness Centre based on the grounds of Carrigoran supports the older adult in the local community by encouraging them to attend the Centre on a daily basis. The aim is to enable clients remain in their own homes for longer through offering a broad range of stimulating mental activities, age and mobility appropriate physical exercise, social engagement and key information forums of particular interest and suitability. There is on-site qualified Team of Health Care Assistants, a full-time Nurse as well as transport options to and from the Centre.

The Health & Wellness Day Centre at Carrigoran House, benefits the wider community by enabling older persons to live longer in the community be healthier, more active, vibrant & involved. It provides a daily programme which includes Social, Creative, Fitness and Leisure activities.

Based in Newmarket On Fergus the Day Centre is currently looking for a bus driver to assist in supporting their clients on a Wednesday to get to and from the Centre.
The role will include collecting clients from their homes and returning them in the afternoon. The volunteer will be required for approx. 1hr 15 mins on Wednesday mornings at 09:00am & once again for their return journey home in the afternoon from approx. 15:30pm.
The bus is a 16 seater which requires a volunteer with a full clean driving licence to include the D1 category.
The volunteer driver will assist the clients in getting on and off the bus in a safe manner. This volunteer will need to be 23 years or over and the role is subject to garda vetting as well as a full clean driving licence .

What's required for this position

Full clean driving licence with D1 category.
Good communication skills.
Have an interest in working with the elderly.
Patience.
Good sense of humour.
