Clarecare is a professional not for profit organisation providing a range of people centred social services to individuals and families in County Clare. Current services include Family Support, Elderly Care Services, Counselling and Bushypark Residental Addiction Treatment Centre.

What's Involved

The Day Care Centre known as Cuan An Chlair Ennis is looking for volunteers to help with social engagement and inclusion of older people. The Centre operates from Monday to Friday from 10am - 3pm on the grounds of Cahercalla Hospital, Ennis.

This is an opportunity for older people to meet, socialise and participate in activities as well as availing of various services.

They are currently looking for a driver for their bus to collect their clients from home or designated meeting point in the morning and take them to the Day Centre. Following the days activities the driver would then return the clients back home.

This role is for a volunteer to be part of a panel of drivers that operate on 1 week per month basis. The volunteer will need to be available from Monday to Friday one week during the month as that is what works best for this organization.

This volunteer must have a good rapport with people and understand the health & safety when it comes to getting people on and off the bus.

This role would start from 9am and the driver can stay at the Centre during the day or return at 3pm to collect the clients ready for home. The driver will be offered refreshments throughout the day. A full induction will be given for this role as well as any training that is required.

The volunteers must have a clean driving licence with Mini bus category D1.

What's required for this position

Clean driving licence with Mini Bus Category D1 This person ideally will have good communication skills, have a caring nature and should have a natural ability to relate well with older people. They should also have an interest and empathy with people in their senior years.
