What's Involved

Would you like to volunteer as a shop assistant in our George's Street charity shop? If you have four or more hours a week to help out we would be delighted to hear from you.

Not only would you be contributing to our services we provide but also gaining valuable experience in retail as well. Oxfam Ireland shops are run by an enthusiastic teams of volunteers; this role requires volunteers who can assist in shop operations for our George's Street location.

Key Tasks include:
• Maintaining shop standards
• Replenishment and rotation of stock
• Pricing, labelling and processing of stock
• General housekeeping
• Receiving donations
• Greeting and interacting with customers
• Dealing with customer enquirers
• Till duties and cash handling
• Promote shop initiatives
• Data capture for Gift Aid

Full training and support will be provided.

Availability:

  • Saturdays, 10am to 2pm or 2pm to 6pm ( 3 hours shifts or a different schedule can be organised depending on volunteer availability).
  • Sundays 1pm to 5pm.

    What's required for this position

  • Ability to do one shift a week and a general "hands on" attitude.
  • Sales experience is not necessary. We provide training and support.

    Age restrictions:
    Over 16

    Benefits you will receive as a volunteer

    • Local travel costs from your home to and from your shop will be fully reimbursed
    • Lunch expenses can be claimed when you volunteer more than five hours in a day.
