Aware is the national organisation providing free support, education and information services to those impacted by anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and related mood conditions.
What's Involved
The Aware Support Mail service provides support and information for individuals
experiencing depression, bipolar or mood related conditions and for family and
friends supporting a loved one.
Volunteers are required for the role of Email Support Volunteer. Volunteer commitment involves initial training of approximately 21 hours with follow-up training workshops throughout the year.
Aware offers a safe, confidential space (within normal limits) where people can share their own experience of depression and explore available options.
1. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
2. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who can commit to three hours each week and who wants to make a very real and positive difference in the lives of others.
3. Once training is complete you will then volunteer from home so you must have a reliable broadband connection
4. Minimum commitment is 18 months.

What's required for this position
An Aware volunteer will be empathetic and possess good communication skills, have an ability to take direction and possess enthusiasm and passion for the area of mental health and/or for the work of Aware.
The Aware volunteer must
be respectful of others and understand the importance of being a supportive and flexible team player. They must be willing to make a long term commitment to volunteering with Aware and to participate in mandatory ongoing training.
Volunteers must have access to a computer and reliable broadband connection.
