Full Time Volunteer - Client Development

About Dublin Simon Community

Dublin Simon Community works to prevent and address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. We provide services at all stages of homelessness and enable people to move to a place they can call home.

What's Involved

  • Engage with and build professional trusting relationships with clients of Dublin Simon Community treating them with dignity and respect in order to work within the values of Dublin Simon Community (DSC).
  • Build effective professional relationships with DSC staff and teams which support the delivery of Client Development across the organisation.
  • Facilitate groups in meaningful activities such as art, creative writing, photography, reading or anything arts related (these are just examples; we are always open to new initiatives). This is flexible and will be based on the skill set of the volunteer.
  • Support clients with literacy needs.
  • Support Client Development across all their programmes and support the administration of the service. Including having shared responsibility of maintaining the CD email account, replying to emails, updating excel spreadsheets and maintaining good file management.
  • Produce the Client’s Eye newsletter.
  • Update posters and flyers promoting the Client Development Programme.
  • Support Client Development staff with event organisation.
  • Pro-actively encourage, support and motivate clients to take part in Client Development programmes and support them with online technology.
  • Regularly up-date internal notice boards with Client Development information.
  • Assist staff or volunteers providing meaningful activities, encouraging the participation of clients.
  • Record outputs and outcomes for work in line with systems in place and report this data to the staff in the team in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.

    What's required for this position

  • Third level qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. Social Care, Community Development, Education, Psychology.
  • Knowledge of Community Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering services.
