NCBI is a not for profit organisation .We provide practical and emotional supports, rehabilitation services and hands on training to help people who are blind or visually impaired live independently and confidently in their own community.
What's Involved
Note to volunteers:
We hope to have all our shops back up and running on the 8th of June.
We have worked very hard to put all the necessary precautions into place, including screens, PPE and social distancing. We have also implemented all the government guidelines and introduced more of our own.
This is a really exciting opportunity to get involved in a busy retail shop. There are opportunities for all, no experience is necessary , but all experience is gratefully accepted! whether you want to meet new friends or just give a little back to the community , this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Customer service / Register / backroom steaming and sorting/ pricing and window display.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team and help with:
1. Working on the shop floor and sorting room
2. Maintaining shop floor standards
3. Serving and interacting with customers
4. Hanging, tagging and steaming clothes
5. Creating window displays
FAQ
1. What measures have we taken to safeguard social distancing in the shop.
All shops will be set up with distancing markers in compliance with this & the relevant amount of people will then be allowed in each premises at any one time.
In lower square footage areas, the following measures will be taken to comply.
Introduction of flexible or staggered shift patterns. staggered shifts, extended opening hours
2. What PPE gear will be in the building.
We have gloves /Masks/Sanitiser gel and soap/handtowels in place.
We have also put Perspex screens and social distancing measures in place.
Ample signage. Online training on handwashing /social distancing/sanitising/Weekly covid risk assessments. Each shop must assess the health of each member and put 1st response action into place where necessary.
All volunteers and staff must sign as understood.
3.What safety measures will be in place re incoming bric a brac and donations.
Any donations coming in will not be processed for at least 72hours. That includes fabric/plastic/glass etc. We will deal with bric brac as usual. It will be washed in warm soapy water or cleaned with antibacterial wipes as usual. All clothes will be steam cleaned only after the 72hours has passed.
