Chronic Pain Ireland is working to create a greater awareness of Chronic Pain and provide relevant information and support for those living with the condition, for their families and friends. Acting as a voice for people living with chronic pain, we would like to expand support and education services nationally to those living with chronic pain, their caregivers and loved-ones.

Chronic Pain Ireland is looking to expand its Board to increase its skillset in the areas of Marketing, Communications, Legal, Training, Fund-raising, Advocacy and Governance to ensure strong growth of the organisation. As a Director of Chronic Pain Ireland you will be responsible for all of the duties associated with a Company Director and Trustee according to the Companies Act and Charity Regulator.

Purpose of this Role
To provide strong governance and leadership to Chronic Pain Ireland as part of the Board. You will be working with forward thinking and energetic colleagues to maintain and develop Chronic Pain Ireland and its services such as the nationwide education programme including info talks and workshops on self-management nationwide education programme including info talks and workshops on self-management. As trustee you will work with other trustees and the national coordinator in reviewing and formulating strategies for the organisation, and to act in the interests of Chronic Pain Ireland at all times.

Support & Training
Training and induction will be provided, as well as a buddy and mentor system for the first few months.

The Board
The current Board meets 8 times a year, two of which can be remote. The members of the current Board are made up of a group of enthusiastic and energetic volunteers, who suffer from chronic pain and bring first-hand experience of member needs.

Time Commitment
5 hours per month approx. for work and meeting prep in addition to Board meetings. Additional time to accommodate mentoring from the Chairperson or another board member for the first few meetings.

What's required for this position

More About You
You have at least three years experience within one area of the following specialties: Marketing, Communications, Fund-raising, Legal, Advocacy, Governance, Training

Or, you are currently working within the healthcare profession with chronic pain patients. For example; counsellor, physiotherapist, nutritionist, occupational therapist etc

Desirable Experience:
• Previous board experience
• Experience within the charity and voluntary sector
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

Chronic Pain Ireland, Carmichael Centre, North Brunswick St, Dublin 7.
Most meetings are in Dublin, two meetings can take place remotely.
