About Society of St. Vincent de Paul - (SVP East Region)
Society of St. Vincent de Paul is one of the largest and longest established charities in Ireland. We provide both practical support and friendship to people in need, and are committed to identifying the root causes of poverty and social exclusion in Ireland, and advocating for a more just and caring society. During our history we have helped people in need through a Famine, a Civil War, a War of Independence, two World Wars and several economic recessions.
What's Involved
Can you help Louise? The boiler in her home just broke down. With a seven-month-old to care for, Louise is at her wit’s end. Recently made redundant from her job, Louise is really struggling to make ends meet, let alone get the boiler fixed. Louise called the SVP looking for help That’s where you as a member of a local SVP team can help – with a visit to Louise in her home our volunteers listen to her and look at ways of supporting her. Louise received vouchers to help with putting food on the table and help with the repair of the boiler. SVP even supported her to retrain to get back into work. Most importantly, the time SVP spent with Louise’s local SVP gave her hope for her and her son’s future.
With the support of her local SVP, Louise got the help she needed when she needed it. Can you help someone like Louise, who may be struggling in your area?
