The Alzheimer Society of Ireland works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their carers. Our vision is an Ireland where no one goes through dementia alone and where policies and services respond appropriately to the person with dementia and their carers, at the times they need support.
What's Involved
Could you help us organise and provide activities for persons with dementia? This can include cognitive stimulation games and quizzes, musical bingo, pool and darts or any other suitable activity, as well as encouraging participation and generally generating a pleasant, fun atmosphere for our clients. The aim is to provide participants with opportunities for movement, socialisation, cognitive challenge and just plain enjoyment. An interest/understanding of dementia would be desirable.
What's required for this position
Comfortable organising and facilitating activities. Having some knowledge or experience of people with dementia would be helpful, but patience and compassion are most important.
