About Dublin Simon Community

Dublin Simon Community works to prevent and address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. We provide services at all stages of homelessness and enable people to move to a place they can call home.

What's Involved

We have an extensive full-time volunteering programme here in the Dublin Simon Community. Many people choose to undertake a full-time volunteering placement to gain essential practical experience, so as to further develop a career in this area. Others undertake the placement to finally make that career change.

Tasks

Recruitment and Selection
o Assist in arranging interviews and in issuing regret letters and emails.
o Follow up on new hire paperwork for employee files.
o Advertising vacancies and maintaining the Recruitment System
o Providing reader support with databases/systems/processes.

Office Administration
o Provide support to the office - answering phones, visitors, dealing with queries etc.
o Provide administrative support to the team – filing, shredding, general office duties.
o Data entry HR systems.
o Assist in the administration and upkeep of files in line with GDPR requirements.
o Prepare statistics, graphs and metrics for Head of Human Resources if required.
o Undertake other duties and projects as may be required from time to time.

Employee Relations and Health and Safety
o Support elements of employee and community events as required, this will include but not be limited to Community Days, Memorial service etc.

- Strong communications skills; written and verbal
- Interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates an enthusiastic, can do attitude
- Demonstrates a customer service approach
- Good working knowledge of MS Office packages
- Reasonable flexibility in relation to hours of attendance to meet the needs of the service. Volunteering during unsocial hours may be required.
- Have a flexible approach to your placement in response to organisational change, development and review.
