A social enterprise aimed at creating meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities for the people we support and to foster community connections. Harvest Studios is a day service area supporting people with intellectual disability as part of the Brothers of Charity Services. Hiddem Gem Cafe is part of this facility providing a relaxed space for the public to enjoy morning tea/coffee and a light snack, while promoting community interaction, connectivity and social activity for all concerned.
What's Involved
The volunteer will assist in The Hidden Gem Cafe, supporting people with intellectual disability to serve tea, coffee and light snacks to the public. This will include setting up tables, taking orders, serving, customer service, clearing tables and general cafe hygiene. Staff will be available to assist volunteers in their role.
What's required for this position
Interest or experience in working with people with intellectual disability is desirable but not essential. Some catering experience is also desirable but not essential.The opportunity for training in Food Hygiene will be part of this role. Initiative and practicality essential. Having a willingness to work as part of a team, patience, a sense of humour and a desire to help others will make this experience worthwhile for all concerned!
