About Donore Community Drug & Alcohol Team
The Donore Community Drug Team are working with the community of Donore Avenue and surrounding areas to assist all those affected by addiction problems, to promote healthy well-being and to improve the quality of life for those who use our service. The team places a special emphasis on people who find themselves homeless.
What's Involved
The DCDAT run a number of low-threshold drop-in’s, activities & programmes as well as a number of holistic programmes weekly. We also provide hot meals, shower facilities and care planning and case management. Each service user is asked to give their details in an Initial Assessment Form and then invited to take part in a Care Plan where they can progress to where they want to go, with the help of a keyworker. This creates data that needs to be entered into the centralised data system and we are hoping to involve some committed, diligent, IT proficient volunteers to support this work with a great team and vital service. We have also begun to provide data to the Health Research Board which helps them form the national figures on drug & alcohol use.
