Depaul Raft Race Against Homelessness - Rule Tellers and Scorekeepers

Depaul

About Depaul

Depaul is a homeless charity providing accommodation and support through hostels and outreach services. Depaul believes that everyone should have a place to call home and a stake in their community. Our aim is to work with those who are socially excluded and marginalised by providing a quality led service in order to produce the best possible outcomes for those accessing our services. We work in partnership with central and local government, housing associations and other non-governmental organisations such as the society of St Vincent de Paul.

What's Involved

The Depaul Raft Race Against Homelessness is our flagship fundraising event. The event takes place in Grand Canal Dock, Dublin 2 on June 27th.

There will be Raft Races, a children’s play area, a football shoot-out, a DJ and more. To make all this happen we need amazing volunteers!

The event, including setup and breakdown, will run from 5pm to 10pm. Volunteer shifts will be for a 3-4 hour duration.

A briefing for volunteers will take place on the evening of June 19th.

Rule Tellers and Scorekeepers

Rule Tellers will focus on teams and give support and information on the race. Rule Tellers will be fully briefed on race rules in advance of the event. Scorekeepers will keep score of all heats and final race. They will give all teams their “baton” at the start of their race and ensure that all teams touch the wall with it as the finish their race. Scorekeepers will need to link in with Judges to ensure that scores are being tallied properly.

What's required for this position

Outgoing personality and a keen eye to judge the scoring. These roles are based on the quayside beside the water. Volunteers will need to physically fit as there will be a bit of running around the quayside and over and back to the judges.
