Charity Shop Assistant - Cabra

Vision Ireland - the new name for NCBI

About Vision Ireland - the new name for NCBI

NCBI's retail shops are located around Ireland, selling great quality second-hand clothes, shoes, household items, books and a large selection of bric-a-brac. The proceeds of the shops go towards NCBI's services.
We provide practical and emotional supports, rehabilitation services and hands on training to help people who are blind or visually impaired to help them live independently and confidently in their own community. We rely heavily on volunteers to support our charity shops. Each hour you volunteer will help to fund these life changing services.

What's Involved

This is a really exciting opportunity to get involved with the running of a busy retail shop. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team and help with:
1. Working on the shop floor and sorting room
2. Maintaining shop floor standards
3. Serving and interacting with customers
4. Organising and cleaning the stock for sale in the shop
5. Creating window displays

Time Commitment
If you are interested, you will be able to discuss times mutually suitable for you to work. Shifts are normally three hours morning or afternoon, but even less time can be a big help. The manager will give you a simple form to fill and you will work either with her or with an experienced volunteer for three shifts. If you are happy to continue, you will be signed in as a volunteer.

Covid-19 Safety Protocols Implemented in Shops
Safety protocols to protect volunteers, staff and customers give guidance on distancing requirements, cleaning of shop and donations, PPE and other protective measures.

Other Shop Locations
If Cabra is not convenient to you, we have over 90 shops nationwide. Check out your nearest NCBI retail shop and simply phone or call in and ask for the manager. You will be shown around and will probably meet other volunteers. This doesn’t commit you to anything.
