Bull Island Action Group

About Bull Island Action Group

Bull Island Action Group is an organisation that get volunteers together to clean beaches and sand dunes on Dollymount Strand, the Bull Wall, parts of the causeway and the inner shore of North Bull Island. Bull Island Action Group meet on the third Saturday of every month, all year round, always meet at the entrance to Dollymount Strand just past Royal Dublin Golf Club. Litter pickers, gloves and rubbish bags are provided.

What's Involved

Join us to physically pick up rubbish/litter on Bull Island! Our regular cleanup is always on the third Saturday of every month for two hours from 11.00am

Bull Island is a wild and wonderful space that has provided enjoyment to the residents of its surrounding suburbs and to Dubliners as a whole for generations. Declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1981 and a National Nature Reserve in 1988, the recent awarding of Blue Flag Status to a section of Dollymount Strand has added significantly to Bull Island's amenity value.

The island can become heavily littered, however, particularly in the sand dunes and other rough terrain, where Dublin City Council's machinery cannot be used. In these circumstances, in order to keep the area clean, the litter that has been dropped, windblown or water-borne must be picked up by hand.

Bull Island Action Group has been active in organising clean-ups by volunteers on a regular monthly basis for the past several years.
If you are concerned about the environment and want to do something positive about it, join us on the 3rd Saturday of each month and help to make a difference.
