About New Communities Partnership (NCP)
NCP (New Communities Partnership)is an independent national network of 150 migrant-led groups comprising of 65 nationalities with offices in Dublin and Cork with outreach to other cities. The mission of NCP is to act as an effective network representing and empowering ethnic minority-led groups and leaders, at all levels, in order to influence positive change in policies that impact on their lives.
What's Involved
Working with NCP Youth Ireland. Once a week visiting primary schools in Dublin Inner City (mainly Dublin 1 area) and helping migrant students with English and homework.
Main Objectives of the programme:
- To support students from migrant background to understand the curriculum, build their confidence and perform better in school through acquiring necessary English language skills.
- To assist students who may have specific English language challenges with their school work.
- To impact them with the necessary skills needed as people from migrant background to enjoy English language and inspire them to improve as well.
Time Commitment Required: Monday afternoon from 2.30 to 3.30pm.
What's required for this position
1. Fluent English is required for this role
2. Previous experience in teaching and supporting students is desirable.
3. Role would suit a student teacher seeking experience teaching English at Primary level
4. Good interpersonal skills and natural communicator.
5. Passion for teaching language to migrants / people struggling with English
