About Yeats Society Sligo
To celebrate the work of WB Yeats and family and other Irish writers and to support and encourage citizens and visitors alike to engage with and enjoy poetry, drama and literature through festivals, events and readings.
It provides a central point of reference for all who are interested in the Yeats Family and their connections to Sligo. It operates throughout the year, and organises the annual Yeats International Summer School and other events.
What's Involved
We have a shortage of volunteers for our meet and greet volunteer role, so if you have an a few hours to spare in the morning or afternoons that would be great! We are also open to involving volunteers at other times as well.
Volunteers will be 'Manning the 'Welcome' desk; greeting visitors and tourists, selling entry tickets, supervise the art gallery, giving out free booklets; putting on Videos and DVDs on request; handling sales of post-cards, books etc. some office work; helping to lay out chairs for lectures; putting out advertising banner, signs, etc.
What's required for this position
Ability to engage with the public and with tourists in a confident and friendly manner.
Good communication and inter-personnel skills. Volunteers are always needed for this role.
Volunteers are often the friendly and welcoming face for visitors and are often asked for directions toplaces in or around Sligo.
V olunteers will be given provided with an induction for their role along with information on the main attractions in Sligo.
