About Monaghan Helping Hands & Befriending Monaghan
Monaghan Integrated Development's Helping Hands Project has been in operation since 2010. It uses a pool of volunteers to offer a minor repairs and odd jobs service for older people and people with disabilities in Co. Monaghan. The aim is to assist older people to carry out necessary small repairs and improvements to their homes, enabling them to live independently in the community in increased comfort and safety.
In 2018 the service is expanding to include Befriending Monaghan, which will involved volunteers visiting older people who are isolated or lonely.
The Co. Monaghan Helping Hands service is looking for volunteers throughout County Monaghan to help older people and people with special needs in a DIY service. Tasks include changing light bulbs, fitting smoke alarms, gardening and other small DIY jobs.
