About Limerick Tipperary Samaritans
Samaritans vision is that fewer people die by suicide, we work to achieve this by making it our mission to alleviate emotional distress and reduce the incidence of suicidal feelings and suicidal behaviour.
What's Involved
Volunteers when trained will be available at the Centre 3 hours per week and one overnight per month to listen & provide emotional support to callers.
Find out what it takes to be a Samaritan Volunteer. Come along to one of our Volunteering Information Sessions being held at our branch: Samaritans, 20 Barrington Street, Limerick.
Samaritans Limerick currently have over 120 volunteers and no paid staff. We always need more volunteers to ensure volunteer cover and to share the workload. Ideally the local office would like to recruit another 15-20 volunteers at each recruitment phase.
Potential volunteers can come to information sessions to find out what is involved - no commitment is necessary at info stage and many people decide for themselves whether this voluntary opportunity is for them at this time when they have the full facts.
