About Mitchelstown Alzheimer's Day Care Centre

Mitchelstown Day Care Centre is a service ran by the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, the leading provider of dementia-specific services in Ireland. Their services provide person centred support and care, the person with dementia and their family are placed at the centre of the service so that they are actively involved in making decisions.

What's Involved

Volunteers, in conjunction with day centre staff, are required to facilitate Art and Crafts, Knitting, Weaving, Sewing, Embroidery or any other crafts which may be of interest to elderly people for a few hours.on a Tuesday on a weekly basis.

What's required for this position

Patience, compassion, good communication skills with elderly people, respectful of the needs, abilities and limitations as well as a have an interest in arts and crafts and music.

Intermediate English

Minimum time commitment: 3 months
