Welcoming Volunteer - Emergency Homeless Shelters

Depaul

About Depaul

Depaul is a homeless charity providing accommodation and support through hostels and outreach services. Depaul believes that everyone should have a place to call home and a stake in their community. Our aim is to work with those who are socially excluded and marginalised by providing a quality led service in order to produce the best possible outcomes for those accessing our services. We work in partnership with central and local government, housing associations and other non-governmental organisations such as the society of St Vincent de Paul.

What's Involved

Welcoming Volunteers provide a warm welcome to service users as they come into our emergency services.

One task in the larger hostels is to assist with the lockers area in the hostels, helping service users to safely lock away their belongings and managing the intake of laundry.

Another key role in all of our emergency hostels is serving food and hot drinks and engaging in conversation with service users.

Volunteers are essential in providing a friendly face and supporting the efficient running of the service.

This is a great role for someone who wants to learn about how our services operate without taking on the responsibility of leading activities or engaging one-to-one with service users. Volunteers are welcome to volunteer in pairs or small groups.

Time Commitment: 2 - 4 hours per week, between 8am and 11am in the mornings, or 6pm and 10pm in the evenings. You can volunteer any morning or evening.

Volunteer Induction will take place on Wednesday, 29th May at 5.30pm.
