About The Irish Blue Cross
The Irish Blue Cross, founded in 1945, is a registered animal care charity. We provide long established, mobile veterinary clinics for small animals at ten Dublin locations and in 2009 we opened a clinic at Inchicore. The charity’s services target eligible pet owners on means-tested benefit and educates them on the responsibilities of pet ownership. The charity also provides a horse ambulance service that attends race meetings throughout Ireland, working in co-operation with race meeting officials and vets. This service is fully funded by the racing authorities.
What's Involved
We are looking for a part time Volunteer Driver (1- 3 evenings per week) 5pm – 9pm (approx.) C1 licence essential.
Core Role Requirements:
To drive mobile veterinary clinics to various locations in Dublin.
To manage health and safety at the mobile clinic location.
To assist the vet on duty at the mobile clinic if required.
To perform other driving duties as required if you are available. This may involve driving the trucks to the garage for routine servicing or CVRT tests during business hours.
To ensure routine maintenance of the vehicle. This will include ensuring that it is adequately supplied with fuel and regularly checked for routine road worthiness in respect of tyres, lights, brakes, oil, water etc. It will also include ensuring that the cab of the vehicle is kept clean and that the outside of the vehicle is washed as needed, ensuring that seat belts and other safety harnesses are always functioning correctly, and that the vehicle is and secure.
To ensure that passengers comply with current legal obligations regarding the wearing of seat belts
What's required for this position
• Applicant must be at least 25 years old
• Minimum 3 years relevant driving experience
• Full, clean C1 driving licence
• Trustworthy and reliable
• Ability to work as part of a team and take instructions well
