Helpline - Listening Volunteer

Dublin Samaritans

About Dublin Samaritans

Samaritans are available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. We believe in the value of having time and space to explore difficult feelings. We also believe that being listened to in confidence, and accepted without prejudice, can alleviate despair and suicidal feelings.

What's Involved

Anyone can talk to Samaritans, at any time, about whatever is getting to them. We’re just ordinary people, who give up our time to listen.

We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for volunteers. Samaritans is entirely dependent on voluntary support. It’s a challenging experience and it can be very rewarding, knowing that you may have made a difference.
Being a listening volunteer means being part of a supportive branch that works together to reach out to those going through a difficult time.
