About Dublin International Film Festival Limited
Welcome to the 2020 Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival – a 12 day extravaganza of cinema and an opportunity to see the very best of world cinema and film talent in Dublin with 100+ screenings from almost 40 countries. Taking place in February each year, the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival is Ireland’s premier film festival event. The Festival curates and presents the best in emerging international and Irish film and moving image culture for a wide audience through its flagship annual festival, along with a range of year-round events. Virgin Media DIFF aims to offer memorable experiences through audience interaction and engagement with filmmakers, actors and industry professionals, along with informed debate about the future of film as an art form.
What's Involved
Help will be needed in areas such as venues, hospitality, office administration, production, ticketing, promotions, marketing and communications so whether you are welcoming Festival-goers to a venue and making sure that they’re getting the most out of the festival or helping behind the scenes at DIFF HQ it’s a great way to get first-hand insight into the inner workings of an international entertainment event.
The festival takes place: 26th Feb – 8th Mar 2020
Venues
Volunteering activities in our venues include; ticket scanning, ushering, Audience Award voting, roving mic, box office (ticket collections), and general venue operations (crowd liaising & information point of contact). Through a co-ordination of these elements our venue staff ensure the smooth running of the Festival schedule.
Hospitality
Working in close association with our Hospitality team, duties may include the scheduling and compilation of guest packs, biographies and daily itineraries for our national and international guests. Being a Hospitality Volunteer is a great way to experience the buzz of the Festival.
Office Administration & Production
In these areas volunteers have the opportunity to participate in the daily workings of a major film festival and will get a taste of each of our departments: administration, production, publicity, hospitality & exhibition coordination.
Marketing
Working closely with the Festival Marketing Team, this is an opportunity to help spread the word about the festival to as many people as possible, maintaining quality and consistency of message across all channels. As advocates of the Festival, volunteers participate in market research and conducting surveys to find out more how our audience perceives the event and the festival as a whole.
Depending on your availability, you can either apply to be full-time (a minimum of one shift per day during the Festival) or part-time. Each volunteer must be able to commit to a minimum of five shifts.
