About 1st Port of Dublin Sea Scouts (Ringsend)

1st Port of Dublin Sea Scouts has a long history which traces back to the first Scout meeting in Ireland in 1908.Its aim is to encourage the personal development of young people so that they may become active citizens and contribute to their communities. It does this using water safety and a nautical environment to offer opportunities for fun, friendship and challenge. We seek enable young people to make friends, develop leadership skills for life, and build resilience.

What's Involved

Do you love the outdoors and would like to work with young people teaching them new skills, and an appreciation for the maritime environment?

We are seeking a Sea Scout Leader for 2 hours per week to supervise and support young people aged ten to fourteen years in undertaking a range of fun activities. We have an immediate need for an additional female leader due to another volunteer taking time out due to work commitments.

About Sea Scouts:
1st Port Sea Scouts work with girls and boys that are interested in the outdoors (particularly water sports and the maritime environment) and learning different skills such as hiking, map work, pioneering, first aid, camping, rowing and cooking.

What's required for this position

  • Full training provided.
  • Enthusiasm and the desire to create fun, friendships and challenges for young people is essential.
