Project / Team Leader

Serve The City Dublin

About Serve The City Dublin

As a volunteer-led community initiative, the aim of Serve the City is simply to meet the practical needs of people in our community. We seek to bring support to those who need it through a variety of service projects. By painting a room; clearing an overgrown garden; putting up shelves; providing cultural and social activities for asylum seekers and refugees; or befriending programmes, we demonstrate care within the community. We are part of an international movement of Serve the City organisations in over 50 cities worldwide.

Our core values actively guide our work: humility, compassion, respect, courage, love and hope. Read more in our strategic plan – Volunteers Serving Communities.

What's Involved

A project leader would be involved in coordinating a group of willing volunteers, on one of our practical serve days around Dublin City. These projects include house clear-outs,redecorations and some gardening and could range from 3-12 volunteers at any one project.
At first a potential project leader will do a couple of outings as a regular volunteer, in order to familiarise themselves with the workings of a typical serve day. A short morning of informal training will be provided in order to cover all basics of being in a leadership role, responsibilities and the ethics that we, as a charity, follow.

Serve Days take place on two Saturdays of each month.

Benefits of being a Team Leader
Volunteering as a leader with STC can enhance your life experience and you can gain valuable skills. As a Project Leader you will meet new people and understand what it takes to motivate and inspire them as volunteers. You can learn new social and team building skills, as well as hard skills like project management and planning an event. We recently had two volunteer Project Leaders gain new paid employment opportunities, both with world-class professional companies, partly on the strength of their volunteer leadership performance with STC.
