Depaul is a homeless charity providing accommodation and support through hostels and outreach services. Depaul believes that everyone should have a place to call home and a stake in their community. Our aim is to work with those who are socially excluded and marginalised by providing a quality led service in order to produce the best possible outcomes for those accessing our services. We work in partnership with central and local government, housing associations and other non-governmental organisations such as the society of St Vincent de Paul.

What's Involved

Planning and providing appropriate music and movement therapy sessions and encouraging service users to engage.

A music and movement facilitator working to gently improve the mobility and well being of those living with the effects of long term homelessness through the healing power of music and movement. The volunteer will, with the support of the hostel staff, organise, schedule and run weekly sessions for the men and women in the hostel.

What's required for this position

Must be mature in attitude, resilient and imaginative by nature and should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Volunteer must be mindful that service users may have poor physical and mental Health, chaotic lifestyles and low self esteem.

You will need a good sense of humour, imagination and creativity, excellent communication skills and the ability to work along the hostel staff as part of the wider team.
