Ballymun Regional Youth Resource BRYR, is a professional Youth Work organisation in a purpose built youth facility with 40 staff and volunteers, students, young leaders and EVS. We offer support, variety, fun and a purposeful experience with young people 10-24yrs of age.

What's Involved

The person will work with other staff and volunteers in the Tuesday Music Club. There are 3 sessions according ages of 10-12s, 13-14yrs and 15yrs+. The programme varies throughout the year but the volunteer will support our band room, drumming, guitars, singing, djing, rapping, participation in youth gigs etc as appropriate. The volunteer can participate in specific projects or on an on-going basis.

What's required for this position

The person needs to have demonstrated musical skills. These could be in relation to instruments, singing, DJing, recording, musical events.
The Music Club programme varies as the interest and ability of the young people changes. Other skills include:
a) an ability to engage with young people aged 10-14yrs of age- good interpersonal skills
b) good active listening skills
c) knowledge of /empathy with the issues young people face in their lives
d) knowledge of the dynamic of the Ballymun community
e) suitable qualities include empathy, patience, supportiveness, motivation; an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude; being dependable, adaptable, honest.

Finally, the person needs to be a person who is able to work from ‘where the young person is at’

Fluent English

Minimum time commitment: Flexible

Hours required: 2hrs Weekly
