About Team Hope
Team Hope is an Irish, Christian, International Development Charity working to help children affected by poverty in Eastern Europe and Africa. Team Hope works to bring positive long term change through our annual Christmas Shoebox Appeal and Sustainable Development Projects.
What's Involved
We need your knitting (or crocheting) skills!! Please grab your knitting needles and help make a child smile!
Your impact in this role
Every year we send Christmas Shoebox Gifts to needy children in Eastern Europe and Africa and we are always grateful to everyone for creating their shoebox gifts. However, some of the boxes need to be “filled” with a few more items and that’s where you can help. You can help make the boxes extra special for these children by creating easy-to-knit “WOW” items.
This is a flexible role, here are some of the practical details:
- You can do this in your own home and you can keep on knitting (or crocheting) throughout the year.
- From September onwards, wherever you are in the country, we can put you in touch with a local team Coordinator who can arrange with you to pass over the items you’ve created.
- They will then be used to “fill” a shoebox that isn’t quite full and will also give joy to a child who may never have received a gift before.

What's required for this position
An interest and/or love of knitting! – If you can cast on, knit and cast off you can do this!
Spare time to knit little items like bags, “dude dolls”, hats, crowns, teddies – anything small that will light up a little boy or girls’ face
