About Connect Family Resource Centre
Connect FRC is one of 121 Family Resource Centres in Ireland, however we are the only one in Co. Louth.
The aim of the Family and Community Services Resource Centre Programme is to combat disadvantage and improve the function of the family unit. Connect FRC specifically engages with the communities of north Drogheda to support families, facilitate the positive development of local community and regenerate community pride. Connect Family Resource Centre also supports families and individuals who experience disadvantage and marginalization, to access and engage with opportunities for learning and development, toward an improved quality of life.
We offer a wide range of services including low cost counselling(Adult, child and adolescent), a whole suite of parenting programmes, NVR, Rainbows, FEAD & Foodcloud, educational courses such as yoga and silk painting, Footsteps(support programme for 16-22 year olds), Beacon Family Support programme, low cost family events(summer trips and santa's winter wonderland)
We also offer support with referrals, form filling and internet access.
What's Involved
Board Member:
Connect FRC are looking for new Board members to support our work in the Moneymore, Laurences Park area. We would like to extend this invite to anyone over 18 who would like to get involve and support our work.
We would encourage anyone whom has some experience or passion with Community or family work, or someone whom has a background of HR or Business and like to bring their knowledge to support the growth and development of a local charity.
We are looking for mix of young and older members from either within or outside of our community whom want to bring some of their experience and ideas to add to our already strong board.
Some of the qualities we like from a candidate.
• Ability to be co-operative, be a team player and work with the existing members;
• An awareness of the issues and struggles facing the community and be able to represent those at management level;
• Good communication / leadership qualities and skills, as well as an ability to keep confidentiality and boundaries;
• Organisational skills, new ideas and an open mind.
• Ability to work from an equality focus.
• Have fun whilst involve and a passion for this area of work
• All candidates Will be Garda Vetted.
We would like to encourage someone whom may not have the experience but the interest in this area as induction, training and support will be provide to help support the growth of the Member also.

The main Commitment we expect from a member:
1. Attend monthly meetings which run on the last Tuesday of the month at 10.30am-12.noon.
2. If they are involved on a staff and supervision or finance or working sub group-one day a month for 2 hours.
3. Any other major events the centre runs: If the board member is available to attend would be of great benefit
