    What's Involved

    Are you someone who is fluent with English and would like to use your language skill? Then this group would particularly like to hear from you.

    Volunteers are needed to teach conversational English to new migrants in small groups.

    Main Tasks

  • Welcome new students to the group, making them feel at ease.
  • Attend training and learn from each other on how to deliver a conversation class.
  • Lead a conversation class with a small group using the lesson plan and materials.

    We are looking for someone who is available to give 2 hours per week at the Magnet Pastoral Centre
    Classes are held on Mondays from 6-8 pm. (excluding Bank Holidays)

    Support: Training is provided on how to prepare and deliver a lesson before volunteering begins. Regular training and support will be available to volunteers to help develop their skills. Volunteers will also support one another, sharing ideas about what works in leading the conversation classes.

    What's required for this position

    The main criterion for tutoring on the project is that you speak English and have a patient, friendly attitude and approach, training will be provided.
    The following characteristics are also important: Warm and welcoming manner. Good listening and communication skills. Patience and perseverance. Reliability and punctuality . The ability to guide and encourage.
