An Óige Irish Youth Hostel Association

About An Óige Irish Youth Hostel Association

An Óige's Vision is to awaken the spirit of adventure! Our Purpose: To bring this vision into reality, we encourage and enable all but especially young people to expand their horizons through hostelling in Ireland and abroad. Our main objective is to help all, but especially young people, to a love and appreciation of the countryside, particularly by providing simple hostel accommodation for them whilst on their travels.

What's Involved

Do you have a passion for non-formal education and the outdoors?
In order to further assist young people in achieving their awards we have a select group of volunteers who act as Gaisce guides for the outdoor Adventure Journey section of the Gaisce awards. This is where you come in!

For almost 85 years An Óige has provided safe, affordable accommodation and travel experiences to people, from all walks of life, travelling Ireland. Our aim is to awaken within everyone, but especially young people, a spirit of adventure and a love and appreciation for the countryside.

One of the ways we do this is by providing avenues for young people to pursue their Gaisce awards while using our hostels. By providing affordable accommodation in various locations we can help young people achieve the requirements for their award in safe and friendly environments.
