About Volunteer Stroke Scheme Louth
The Volunteer Stroke Scheme (VSS) is a not for profit organisation which was set up in 1983 to cater for the needs of stroke patients and their families. The mission of the VSS is to develop world class support services for stroke survivors throughout Ireland. We have four Dublin based clubs where groups meet on a weekly basis and participate in therapeutic type activities, as well as physiotherapy sessions. Annual Holidays, Outings and Christmas Parties are also held.
What's Involved
We are hoping to recruit volunteers that will chat to our group and assist the co-ordinator with the mornings activities.
At our weekly meetings we encourage stroke survivors to participate in activities which will stimulate the brain synapses.
We would also like to hear from anyone who has a particular interest in Arts & Craft activities as they are particularly popular and we would love to recruit volunteer(s) who could design and lead the group in creative activities (such as mosaics and glass painting).
We are open to a volunteer coming in once a month or couple of months for outings etc.
Our Dundalk group meet on Wednesday mornings while our Drogheda group meet on Tuesday mornings
