About Kildare LGBT Group InSync

Kildare LGBT aims to establish a Drop In group to provide a place for Young LGBT People to hang out with their peers in a safe environment with support from members of the KYS Youth Work Team and trained volunteers on a weekly basis.

What's Involved

Volunteers assist with planning and implementation of activities and programs with young people as part of a leader team. Volunteers will assist with the supervision of weekly youth groups. Kildare LGBT group is looking for volunteers to give 2-4 hours per month. The group runs every Saturday from 3.30-5.30pm. We are looking for people to work with LGBT young people from 14-21, so they need to have an interest in working with young people and be open minded. They are required to undertake Garda vetting and attend an informal interview. There is Basic Adult Leadership training provided. This training is for new Volunteers/Leaders, covering Child protection, Youth work, Youth Leadership etc. It is compulsory that all new Volunteers participate in the Adult leadership. The training venue will be confirmed nearer the date and takes place over 2 Saturdays from 10am-4.30pm. The next dates are scheduled for 20th & 27th May. All participants must complete both days of the course to receive certification.
