About Ballymun Regional Youth Resource
Ballymun Regional Youth Resource (BRYR), is a vibrant Youth Work organisation working with 10-24 year old's in Ballymun, Dublin. Our aim is to empower young people from Ballymun & surrounding areas to reach their full potential. We put in place a range of resources that will support them to make a happy, healthy and successful transition to adulthood. We seek to promote health, well- being and resilience at all stages of their development.
What's Involved
We are looking for people who enjoy working with young people and who have experience within the field of Beauty / Personal Grooming. Would you be interested in sharing those skills to benefit our projects.?
Your role will be to support a group of young people who are interested in learning more about self grooming for themselves. The young people will be grouped according to their ages: 10 - 24yrs. There will be a Youth Worker leading the group and you will contribute your skills.
Your ability needs to be at a mid-level point so you can lead the group.
Ideally, we would like to have the volunteer available on an ad hoc basis to respond to needs arising in groups. So the volunteer might be needed for five Thursday evenings at one stage and then at some other time in the future for six Wednesday evenings with another group.
What's required for this position
Other skills include:
a) an ability to engage with young people aged 10 - 24 years of age and good interpersonal skills
b) good active listening skills
c) knowledge of and empathy with the issues young people face in their lives
d) knowledge of the dynamic of the Ballymun community
e) qualities such as; patience, supportiveness, motivation, an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude, dependable, adaptable and honest.
f) Finally, the person needs to be able to work from ‘where the young person it at’.
