About Ballymun Regional Youth Resource
Ballymun Regional Youth Resource (BRYR), is a vibrant Youth Work organisation working with 10-24 year old's in Ballymun, Dublin. Our aim is to empower young people from Ballymun & surrounding areas to reach their full potential. We put in place a range of resources that will support them to make a happy, healthy and successful transition to adulthood. We seek to promote health, well- being and resilience at all stages of their development.
What's Involved
Outdoor Park Games Summer Fun !
This outdoor games volunteer will work with young people over the summer in the parks of Ballymun. The volunteer will be a part of a team of staff and volunteers. The team will deliver on a series of planned activities in the 6 parks of Ballymun over 3 afternoons/evenings a week for the period of June/July and August.
The activities will include a range of sports, and traditional style games, Young people of all ages get involved with a focus on 10- 24yrs olds.
The volunteer can get involved in all or some of this programme over the 3 months. A timetable will be assigned.
What's required for this position
- The person would require an ability to deliver a fun interactive sports programme to young people at their pace.
Areas of experience that would be particularly useful are sports and games abilities.
- The person would need to be enthusiastic and feel they can interact with young people age 10- 24yrs and can share their skills with an informal relaxed approach.
- Other skills include :
a) an ability to engage with young people aged 10-24yrs of age- good interpersonal skills,
b) good active listening skills.
c) knowledge of /empathy with the issues young people face in their lives.
d) knowledge of the dynamic of the Ballymun community .
e) suitable qualities include empathy, patience, supportiveness, motivation; an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude; being dependable, adaptable, honest.
Finally, the person needs to be a person who is able to work from ‘where the young person it at’
