About Clonmel and District Wheelchair Society
Founded in 1986, the Clonmel & District Wheelchair Society was set up by a group of dedicated people who saw the need for a local Wheelchair Society to assist people get out to social events who would otherwise find it difficult.
The Society generates funds from an annual door to door collection for the month of September, a Table Quiz run by the committee of Hillview Sports Club and other donations.
The funds are used to;
Send people to Lourdes
Run an annual Christmas Party.
Bring people on an annual Pilgrimage to Knock.
Run monthly Tea Parties in Clonmel Og.
Attend the Blessing of the Sick in Holycross
Bring people on outings.and other events as they arise.
In 2010, the Emergency services ran a fundraising cycle and together with the National Lottery, the Society was able to purchase a specially adapted bus which we use to transport our members.
The society holds an annual AGM to elect it's committee officers.
What's Involved
This role will involve assisting the wheelchair bus driver in collecting, loading, securing and chatting to the service users. The role involves helping out at our Tea parties, Christmas Dinner, Annual Collections, Trips etc.
