What's Involved


Are you fluent in English and Roma or Romanian?
Our housing and welfare team are looking for volunteers who can help our information officers interpret for our clients Over The Phone.

Role includes:

  • To provide a confidential phone interpreting service through Roma and English for clients who access our Roma clinics
  • To assist Information Officers in providing an information and advocacy service to clients who present to our clinics through Roma and English
  • To assist with translation of information leaflets and documents when required
  • To report any major issues with the service to your volunteer manager

    Expectations:
  • To maintain open communication with staff and volunteer manager including; cancellation of shifts and handovers
  • To observe Crosscare Health & Safety Procedures
  • To observe clear professional boundaries in relations with clients
  • To respect guests right to confidentiality in our relationship with them as per the Crosscare Confidentiality and Code of conduct policies
  • To be able to volunteer as part of a team.
  • To commit to the agreed volunteer times for the agreed time commitment where possible.

    This is a Remote Role.

    What's required for this position

    Essential Skills/Qualities:

  • Fluent English and Romanian or Roma
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to working with Crosscare Housing & Welfare Information’s client group

    Desirable skills/Qualities:
  • Previous interpreting experience

    • Multi-lingual/ Multi-culturalism
    • Personable Skills
    • Phone Support/ Information Giver

    Level of English required for this role:
    Fluent English

    Times and commitment required for this role
