About ALONE Dublin

ALONE is a national organisation that supports and empowers older people to age happily and securely at home. We support individuals and their families, work with other organisations, and campaign nationwide to improve the lives of older people. We work with all older people, including those who are lonely, isolated, homeless, living in poverty, or are experiencing other difficulties. We support them through these challenges to help them find long term solutions.

What's Involved

To bring older people to and from ALONE Events (occasionally some distance from the venue). To support an older person with limited mobility to safely get to and from their front door, and likewise into the event venue.

To make contact with the older person via phone calls to inform of collection times. To make deliveries such as hampers around the Christmas period.

To allow ALONE to make contact and request support with driving at each event; approximately 8-10 per year, and attempt to be available for at least 50% of requests.

To adhere to ALONE's values and policies regarding data protection.

What's required for this position

1. Volunteer Drivers should be able to commit to at least one year of volunteering and be able to support at a minimum of 4 events throughout the year.
2. All Drivers must complete Garda Vetting and Training with ALONE.
3. Volunteer Drivers must have their own vehicle with valid insurance.
