SeniorLine is a telephone listening service for older people provided by trained older volunteers.
Provide empathic listening and support for older callers. Be available for a three hour rota, once, every three weeks. Be familiar with the Helpline ethos, guidelines and expectations - all of which are covered in the initial 5 day training course. Be available for an Introduction morning (2 hours) in advance of the required 5 day training course in a Dublin South venue. Complete a log sheet (primarily tick box) after each call.

What's required for this position
Be a good listener. Have the ability to empathise. Show common sense. Show understanding of the issues facing older people in Ireland. Have the discipline required to NOT to impose religious, political, philosophical or personal views on others, nor to discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, religion or social group. Be non-judgemental. Have a positive outlook. Be reliable. Work to a high standard. Have a good standard of verbal communication.
