Post-Race Clean-Up – Simon Home Run

Dublin Simon Community

About Dublin Simon Community

Dublin Simon Community works to prevent and address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. We provide services at all stages of homelessness and enable people to move to a place they can call home.

What's Involved

For the past 33 years, the Dublin Simon Community have hosted Fun Run in the Phoenix Park.

However, this October as we come into our 34th year of the event, the homeless situation is the worst we have ever seen. We a need a change in direction…we must do more!

To do this, we’ve changed this year’s event to the Simon Home Run. We hope that in addition to raising essential funds for homes, the strong message will inspire you to join the movement against the homeless epidemic and encourage thousands more to show support this.

After the race is completed and participants start to go home we require people to help with the dismantling the area. As this involves manual labour and lifting heavy objects such as barricades we would advise that this be considered to ensure the Health and Safety of those volunteering with this area. It would be of great benefit and a huge cost saving if those helping with set up had their own transport to assist with returning event material to our nearby storage facility from the Phoenix Park. Full instructions will be provided closer to the day.
