Qualified Reminiscence Therapist

Depaul

About Depaul

Depaul is a homeless charity providing accommodation and support through hostels and outreach services. Depaul believes that everyone should have a place to call home and a stake in their community. Our aim is to work with those who are socially excluded and marginalised by providing a quality led service in order to produce the best possible outcomes for those accessing our services. We work in partnership with central and local government, housing associations and other non-governmental organisations such as the society of St Vincent de Paul.

What's Involved

Reminiscence therapy safely recalls events that happened long ago, even when short term memory is failing. It can boost mood and stimulate wider conversation, increasing self-worth, self confidence and engagement. We are looking for a reminiscence therapist to volunteer in a unique and exciting setting, a specialised homeless hostel in Dublin city centre. You will be working along side a professional staff team in a values led organisation supporting those who are suffering the effects of long term homelessness.

What's required for this position

Organise, schedule and run weekly reminiscence sessions. You will need a good sense of humour, imagination and creativity, excellent communication skills and the ability to work alone or along side the hostel staff as part of the wider team.
