About Seastainability
Three friends (A Marine Biologist, an Ecologist and a Designer), each living in different parts of the world, collaborating together to promote sustainability to governments, corporations and individuals.
Together we hope to educate and inspire individuals with what we have learnt and experienced on the topic of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
We will take action with both spontaneous and organised beach cleans and seek support from governments and local councils to tackle topics like single use plastic, recycling and pollution.
We aim to put pressure on big brands on how they package and deliver their products and we challenge them to rethink and redesign their packaging so both they and the consumer can reduce their ‘plastic footprint’.
What's Involved
Volunteers are needed for regular Beach cleans around the Dublin area.
Beach cleans require the clearing of rubbish, micro plastic and pollution from the sand, dunes and public access areas.
The days are good fun and we divide into teams to tackle sections of the beach. One group could be stationed to hunt for micro plastic and others tackle the grass and walkway areas.
Sometimes we dig out large pieces of debris out of the sand.
Litter pickers, bag hoops, rubbish bags, and gloves are provided but we encourage you to bring your own if you have them.
What's required for this position
All that is required is a positive attitude!
Some work is more physical such as digging or bending over to hunt for nurdles.
We have some litter pickers and there are jobs for ages and abilities to take part in.
A big part of volunteering is also spreading the word of beach pollution and sharing your findings with local council or on social media to raise awareness.
