Youth Work Ireland Cavan Monaghan aims to be a trusted partner of young people and their communities. The organisation will work to empower and support young people to realize their potential and ensure their voices are heard. Based in Youth Centres, they have a number of projects and programmes designed to work with young people in a friendly , fun, and non-judgmental way that offer developmental growth for the young people.

What's Involved

The volunteer will work with young people who are engaged with Youthers Zone in Carrickmacross in the afternoon/ evening time. These young people are between 12 and 18 years old. Part of this role will include assisting youth workers to deliver youth programmes and support our Youth Cafes. This includes talking with and forming positive relationships with young people, and helping with group work. Willingness to volunteer in afternoons and evenings.

Youthers opens 5 days a week, and we are hoping the volunteer could offer 4 hours weekly at a time that suits them.

What's required for this position

The volunteer should have the ability to act as a positive role model and the ability to encourage young people. Volunteers also need to be able to show young people that they are an important part of society and can contribute to their own community. Listening, communication and sociable skills also required. The volunteer should be able to work with young people where they are at in their life and aim to offer them guidance and support as appropriate without judgement.
