The City of Dublin YMCA, founded in 1849, is the second oldest YMCA in the world. Through the years, our organisation has operated out of many locations in the Dublin area, but we are now located in the City Centre on Aungier Street and in Sandymount on Claremont Road.

We offer a wide variety of services to the community at large, including youth programmes, job training, short- and long-term accommodation, sports and fitness training, dance classes, childcare, transitional housing and much more.

What's Involved

Would you like to be involved in running a youth cafe in inner city Dublin? Youth Cafe assistant's are needed to help run our Youth Cafe two nights a week and for a few hours on a Saturday.

Dublin YMCA Youth Cafe provides a safe, quiet place where young people can come meet new friends, hang out and develop their personal and interpersonal skills, along with empowering themselves within in the local community. Volunteers will be expected to assist with facilitating the general running of the Youth Cafe, engaging with the young people and supervising the evening.

What's required for this position

The applicant must show strong planning, organisational and time management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The applicant will have the ability to empathise with, lead and motivate young people. The applicant must be able to develop and maintain effective relationships with young people in the 13-21 age group and have a non judgemental approach.

Minimum time commitment: 1 year

Hours required: 5hrs Twice per week
