About YMCA Dublin
YMCA Dublin has been helping vulnerable young people in Dublin’s Inner City for over 160 years. Youth work, education, family support programmes, community childcare and community employment are just some of the services built into the very core of the YMCA’s existence. We work with young people from créche going age through to youth work with education programmes for those who leave school early.
What's Involved
We are looking for volunteers who are eager to make a difference in the life of a young person. You will regularly meet up with a young person offering a friendly ear, support and guidance and advice on making positive life choices.
* Regular meetings with young person to be their positive role model.
* Encourage and help them develop positive behavioural skills.
* Be an active listener to the young person.
* Participate in quarterly outings and fun activities with young person.
* Help and encourage young person to build on their strengths that will help them achieve their full potential.
What's required for this position
Their is no formal training required. You must be an active listener with a non judgmental approach.
Provide empathy towards young person and be able to give them support and guidance when needed.
You will be paired with a young person based on similar hobbies and interests.
