Dublin Simon Community works to prevent and address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. We provide services at all stages of homelessness and enable people to move to a place they can call home.
What's Involved
The Early Morning Street Count is undertaken by the Rough Sleeper Team on a weekly basis in order to ascertain the number of rough sleepers in the Dublin City centre area. It is an important tool that provides the Rough Sleeper Team with crucial information on the location of rough sleepers and it helps the team to provide the necessary supports to people sleeping rough.
Role of driver in the Early Morning Street Count :
To ensure the count is completed in an effective and consistent manner, the Rough Sleeper Team needs a part time volunteer willing to drive the team’s vehicle on a designated route and help the staff to do the count.
Along with the duties of the part time volunteer driver role, the person must also attend to the following:
• Ensure that you arrive promptly at the time agreed.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety throughout all work duties and report any concerns to the Outreach Manager.
• To comply with the Dublin Simon Community dignity and respect policy and procedure.
• To comply with the Dublin Simon Community confidentiality and data protection policies.
• Collect the vehicle from the allocated parking on the assigned times and dates.
• Drive the Rough Sleeper Team vehicle from the parking to the various locations as determined by Early Morning Street Count route.
• To assist with the count and the recording of it.

• To drive the Rough Sleeper Team vehicle around Dublin City Centre area with the allocated staff from Dublin Simon.
• To assist the Rough Sleeper Team with the Early Morning Street count.
• To work together with the Rough Sleeper Team.
• To ensure the Early Street Morning Count is completed in an effective and consistent manner.
