WGRC is a community owned service which works to assist the local community to respond to the problem of substance misuse. The organisation aims to address the causes and symptoms of substance misuse in the area. WGRC provides a range of services and supports to those directly and indirectly affected by drug addiction.

What's Involved

- To provide child play therapy to children through the medium of play.
- To meet with the parent/ guardian to assess the child's situation.
- To ensure that all records are developed and maintained to the standards of the WGRC.
- To participate in case management meetings as required.
- To liaise with core staff with regard to any emerging issues for the child.

The skills required are well developed listening and empathy skills and the skills associated with child play therapy such as the following;

- Creative Visualisation.
- Dance & Movement.
- Art.
- Dramatherapy.
- Storytelling.
- Puppets.
- Sandtray.
- Masks.
- Music and Clay.

Level of English required for this role:
Intermediate English

Times and commitment required for this role

Volunteers will gain experience and the opportunity to practice their play therapy skills. Volunteers will enjoy the benefit of working with a professional team of qualified Counsellors and Psychotherapists and will be will be supported to do so.

Getting there

We are located just off the junction of Longmile road and Kylemore road and 200 metres from the Red Cow Hotel.The Luas red line is a 5 minute walk from the centre and there are several bus routes nearby such as the 18 and the 56a.
