About The Hope Foundation
Hope is a registered Irish charity (CHY 13237) and works for the development of street children in Kolkata (formally Calcutta) through Protection, Education, Healthcare, Counselling, Children's rights awareness, vocational training and reintegration into family life. Set up in 1999 in Cork by Maureen Forrest (Hon. Director), The Hope Foundation has given over 200,000 children to date a brighter future ensuring greater numbers of Kolkata’s street and slum children enjoy their basic rights to protection, education, healthcare and nutritious food.
What's Involved
The Hope Foundation has been incredibly fortunate to once again be chosen as the charity partner of “The Calcutta Run – The Legal Fundraiser” along with the Peter McVerry Trust.
Now in its 21st year, this event organized by the Law Society of Ireland has been fundamental in helping the homeless in Dublin and Kolkata. The event will take place on Saturday 18th of May in Blackhall Place and will be followed by a finish line festival with music, food and drink.
We are looking for water station attendants who will keep race participants hydrated and in good spirits and also stewards who will be allocated a section of road or junction and will have the responsibility for ensuring that all participants pass that junction safely. Being a steward means being the eyes and ears of the festival - being alert, friendly and attentive at all times, and able to report any safety issues that may occur.
Volunteers will be required for registration and stewarding on Saturday 18th May from 9.00am - 1.00pm (free post run BBQ after 1.00pm) Volunteer stewards must be over 18 years of age as per Garda requirements.
