About Irish Haemochromatosis Association
Irish Haemochromatosis Association works to raise awareness of and to educate people about the genetic iron overload disorder Haemochromatosis which is prevalent in Ireland.The disorder is easily treated but fatal if undiagnosed. One in 80 Irish people are estimated to carry both genes.The organisation runs a National Awareness Day and regular regionwide information meetings.
What's Involved
We need assistance in raising awareness of Haemochromatosis at various events and locations. This would involve manning information stands in shopping centres and at large events such as the National Ploughing Championships.
It is important to raise awareness about the symtoms of Haemochromatosis so people can get diagnosed and start treatment as soon as possible.
Do you have social media and marketing / communications skills? We would welcome assistance in improving are online presence and getting our message out more effectively.
National Awareness Day
We also need assistance in planning and coordinating our National Awareness Day in June, which would involves liaising with the managers of shopping centres requesting they host the information stands and make sure the relevant insurance is in place.
What's required for this position
The role requires someone with strong organisation skills, a team player, a good telephone manner and some patience!
The Board of the organisation are very open to innovative ideas to assist raising awareness of the blood disorder to the public.
